A superb brass bound figured walnut jewellery box by Betjemann’s in its original leather carrying case with the initials E. C. P. stamped on the top. On the top of the box is an blue Wedgwood plaque depicting the three graces, the lid opens to reveal a purple velvet and leather interior in immaculate condition, suggesting that the box was never used, with a removable tray for rings, braclets, necklaces, etc, with another compartment below for larger items. The box bears a brass label engraved Bracher & Sydenham, Reading, who were jewellers in the town and retailed jewellery boxes like this.
