A very fine mid 19th Century coromandel ladies dressing case by F.L. Hausburg manufacturer, Liverpool. The top and front of the case are beautifully inlaid with chisel engraved brass, in filled with both Mother of Pearl and abalone, the lid opens to reveal a gilt tooled red leather interior, the lid concealing a stationery compartment and a removable mirror, the case has a selection of eleven fantastically engraved silver topped glass bottles marked London 1849 – 50, markers mark TW, a tool pad with a selection of Mother of Pearl tools and scissors, the bottom jewellery drawer is lined in silk and velvet.

F.L. Hausburg
Friedrich Ludwig Hausburg, originally worked in Paris coming to England in 1840 and was granted naturalization by Queen Victoria. He opened a jewellery and watch business in Liverpool at 24, Church Street, The old post office building, with his business partner and uncle August Promoli. They specialized in desks, dressing cases, work and writing boxes, lamps and chandeliers.
