DRUM or RENT TABLES
These tables are mostly circular with a leathered top that traditionally stood in the hall or library of grand houses where the estate business was dealt with. The frieze of drawers on the true rent table often having inlaid or inscribed numbers, initials or alphabetically arranged letters for estate tenants records and dues. The leathered top occasionally having a central lidded compartment for inkwells pens etc. Most have a central turned pillar support with three or four splayed or scrolled legs ending on castors, the legs are often reeded.
