Alfred Barye French, 1864-82
French Born in Paris, the son of A-L Barye. An Accomplished sculptor who worked very much in the shadow of his celebrated father. His subjects were mainly racehorses but he is known to have modeled some figurative work and a group of partridges. A number of his earlier works were signed ‘A Barye’ which causes confusion, and, presumably at the insistence of his father; his more common signature is ‘A.Barye Fils.’
