Panorama – Henry Alken
Going to Epsom Races.
Going to Epsom Races. A Ludicrous Amusement consisting of Modern Costume, Characters, Dandies, Equipages and Horsemanship. Hand-colured aquatint continuous strip 2.5 x 180 inches, spindle mounted within a cylindrical treen case (replacement upper lid and ivory handled brass winding arm), hand-coloured aquatint scene pasted and varnished to case, label verso the panorama giving publisher’s details, further engraved label for Izzard’s Juvenile Depositry on foot of case (end-stick lost, slight chipping to extreme end of panorama), London, Published by S & J Fuller at their Temple of Fancy, 1819.
Overall, a very nice copy of this vulnerable and fragile production.
