Etui, or travelling nail care and sewing sets are small delicate boxes which are designed to carry all you need to care for you hands and nails, together with basic sewing tools. These will nearly always contain a pair of scissors and then a range of objects, such as, thimbles, button hooks, penknife, pencil, nail file, and many other items as required by the owner.

They come in many different materials, including mother-of-pearl, tortoiseshell, silver, gold, ivory and shagreen.

These are very collectable and don’t take a lot of room.
