Grenville Cottingham lived from 1943 – 2007. Born in London, he studied at Exeter College of Art from 1960 to 1963 and the Liverpool college of Art from 1963 to 1964. His subject matter is wide and varied although water is usually very close by his subjects. Throughout his career, he travelled widely through Tuscany, Provence, South west Ireland, India and much of the British Isles, artistically recording what he saw. He was a regular visitor to the Isle of Wight where he exhibited frequently. His work was also regularly exhibited in some of the major London Galleries.
