A very unusual 18th Century walnut box of superb colour, decorated throughout with feather banding, opening the lid reveals a blue velvet lined interior containing a selection of twenty various sized glass bottles with glass stoppers, (some replaced), it is not clear what would have been contained in these bottles, the larger examples are similar to those found in 18th century caddies, so possible tea samples or spices.
