An exceptional and large tortoiseshell tea caddy, with treble waisted sides and pagoda top which stands on four turned ivory feet. The exterior has a silver escutcheon and has fine silver stringing which helps enhance the shape of this wonderful tea caddy. There is a silver plaque to the top, which is currently plain. Lifting the lid reveals ivory facings to both the lid and base. There are two tortoiseshell lids with mother of pearl handles, which flank a central glass sugar bowl. The inside of the lid is lined with a red velvet and the two compartments contain traces of the original lining. To complete the caddy, there is a bone handled shovel shaped tea caddy spoon.
