An outstanding and original early 19th century Sienna Marble striking mantel clock by Nicholas Rieussec, Paris, with original drum movement, stamped, having the earlier valet Brocot suspension and counter wheel strike to the bell, stiking on both the hour and half hour. Bronze dial and decoration of exceptional quality featuring the Phoenix, having risen again from the flames and now seeking sustenance for a longer life.
Nicholas Mathieu Rieussec, inventor of the Chronograph, Royal Warrant holder to the Kings of France and keeper of the Kings Clocks under Louis XVIII, his brother Charles X and then Louis Philippe.
