ANTIQUE GEORGE III SIMULATED SATINWOOD BOOKCASE ON CABINET
A fine George III simulated satinwood and decorated bookcase on cabinet, in the manner of Mayhew and Ince, the upper section with a moulded cornice with drop pendant decoration above a pair of glazed doors, with oval glazing pairs, simulated in Kingwood and with green painted sprays, enclosing three adjustable shelves with simulated satinwood leading edges, the lower section with a reeded edge above a fluted frieze over a pair of doors with painted paterae and ovals of simulated kingwood and painted flowers all raised on shaped bracket feet with a shaped apron between. Interior re-painted.
Provenance: Acquired by Lady Molly Mount of Broadlands, Hampshire, the country home of Lord Louis Mountbatten and then by descent to Major Drummond of the Cadland Estate, Hampshire.
