ANTIQUE RARE SMALL SIZE QUEEN ANNE WALNUT BUREAU BOOKCASE

A superb Queen Anne walnut bureau bookcase of rare small size, with very fine burr veneers of rich colour and patination, the upper case with a single, bevelled mirror door enclosing shelving, drawers and pigeon holes, the desk interior with drawers and pigeon holes, a single drawer above a cross grain waist moulding, and three further drawers, the sides with heavy brass carry handles, old but not original brasses.

We think this piece was coloured at the time of making, when they tried to imitate the tortoiseshell effect and this makes it very difficult to photograph to show its true colour, the fall is of a nutty brown colour and we would recommend seeing the piece in the flesh if at all possible. If you are not able to visit in person, then I do not think that you will be disappointed if you purchased this piece.
