A superb ormolu, English Regency patinated bronze & white marble inkwell by Weeks’ of Tichbourne St. London. Set on a rectangular white marble base with canted corners and decorated with beading. A ewer is set upon a tree stump into which is cast Weeks’s signature and address. To the left of the group is a superb inkwell in ormolu decorated with forget-me-not and guilloche design and has a glass ink which would have been lined in lead with flanges to allow it to sit firmly. Thomas Weeks had a “Museum” or curiosity shop, at 3/4 Tichborne Street which started in 1803 and closed at his death in 1833. This piece dates from 1805-10.Â
