Swiss born Fritz Zuber-Buhler was a highly talented and sought after artist, moved to Paris at sixteen and studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts. Travelled widely, mainly in Italy, but returned to Paris and made his debut at the Salon in 1850. An accomplished and well recognised artist, exhibited in the Pennsylvania Academy of fine art and the Paris Salon until 1891.
The painting is slightly darker than the image on the site, which was taken under spotlights, but if you are able to have a light shinning on the painting, it will appear the same.
