Charles John De Lacey was a landscape, coastal and naval portrait painter and black and white artist. He was the special press artist and correspondent to the ‘Illustrated London News’. Also artist to the Admiralty and Port of London Authority. He chose subjects and compositions similar to those of W. L. Wyllie, indeed his style was not dissimilar to that artist’s. He exhibited 4 pictures at the Royal Academy, 14 at the Suffolk Street Galleries, 4 in Liverpool and 2 in Manchester.
