William Andrew Beer
Painter in oil & watercolours of landscapes, coastal scenes & bird studies, he was also an illustrator & postcard artist. He was born in Exmouth & first worked as an illustrator in the art department of Harvey Barton & Co. Bristol. His most collected work are his portrait studies of racing pigeons painted in the early 20th century. He was a racing pigeon enthusiast & active judge at many shows. Pigeons were sent by rail to Bristol for him to paint & the finished pictures were often offered as prizes at the shows.
