Charles Taylor was a London painter of marines and historical subjects who specialised in stormy coastal scenes at Brighton, Deal and Yarmouth. He exhibited 1836-71 at the RA and SS, titles at the RA including ‘Brighton at Flood-tide’, 1843, ‘Annabel Bloudel on the Eve of Departing from her Father’s House with the Earl of Rochester’, 1843 and ‘Towing the Life-boat out of Gorleston Harbour’, 1871.
