ANTIQUE STAFFORDSHIRE FIGURE OF A SOLDIER & HIS GIRL
Height: 9½ inches / 24.1 cm
Stock number: JB7204/117
A Victorian Staffordshire figure of a soldier and his girl, he is standing holding a scroll in his right hand and his girls arm in his left hand, wearing a plumed hat, a tunic with epaulettes and trousers, the girl wearing a feathered hat, a full-length coat over her dress, all on a shaped base with gilt line decoration. They appear to be dancing and therefore maybe a theatrical pair as opposed to military.
I was going to describe these as rare, which I think they are, but notice that we have another pair of these for sale already. At this time, I have been unable to locate any reference to this figure in any of the Staffordshire books and would welcome any feedback from the collectors out there.
