An antique Johann Maresch cold-painted terracotta figure of an Arab gentleman, standing, holding a pot in his right hand and a bowl in his left, raised on an integral stepped base with a column support behind the figure. This is stamped to the base JM together with the number 6429.
Johann Maresch (1821 – 1914) is known for ceramic and terracota figures. Johann Maresch joined Adolf Bähr as commercial director in 1845, who in 1841 took up the first production of household articles made from siderolith in Aussig. After Bähr’s death in 1849 he married his daughter Marie Luise.
