A fine antique 19th century patinated bronze sculptured titled ‘La Priere’ or ‘the prayer’ of a young naked woman kneeling on the floor, with her hands clasped in front of her body. Signed JALEY Rome 1831.  It is also fully signed by the famous fondeur Barbedienne on the moulding of the base ” F. BARBEDIENNE, Fondeur”.

Jean-Louis Jaley was a French sculptor and was the pupil of his father Louis Jaley and Pierre Cartellier.
