A vintage silver limited edition model of a horse by Lorne McKean for John Pinches, London 1975 on behalf of The British Horse Society, entitled “Play Up“, a cast model of a rearing horse, on an oval naturalistic base signed Lorne McKean, with hallmarks JP, 925, in original velvet-lined presentation box.Â

Lorne McKean (born 1939) was a student at the Royal Academy Schools and won the Leverhume Scholarship, the Silver medal for sculpture combined with architecture, and the Feodora Gleichen Scholarship. She was elected a Member of the Society of Portrait Sculptors in 1969 and a Fellow of the Royal Society of British Sculptors in 1972, she was the official B.T. artist for the London 2012 Olympic Games. She sculpted HRH Prince Philip on his polo pony, which was the Queen’s personal Silver Wedding gift for her husband.
