A painter in watercolour and gouache. His subjects were mainly landscapes and marines. Born in Birmingham. Served in The Royal Flying Corps during World War One. He painted under contract for Frost and Reed but much of his work was under the pseudonym A. D. Bell for a Birmingham Fine Art dealer, these were mainly clipper ships and landscapes in the West Country, Scotland, Ireland and Venice, the latter being the most collectable of his subjects. This picture is probably one of his finest and very much in the manner of Frank Wasley. An exhibition of the artist’s work was held by Harper Fine Paintings in 1987.
